How to Put on an EZ Walk Collar for a Dog

Dogs that pull on their leashes can wear out and frustrate their owners. There are many tools available to curb your dog's desire to pull and make walks more enjoyable for both of you, however. The Easy Walk Harness is a special type of body collar that attaches the leash to the front of your dog's chest rather than its back or neck, putting the pressure on the dog's legs instead the neck when it tries to pull. The Easy Walk Harness has several straps and a unique configuration, and it is helpful to have guidance when putting it on your pooch.

Instructions

    • 1

Unclip the buckle on the belly strap of the harness. The belly strap is a different color from the other two straps, making it easy to identify.

    • 2

Hold the harness so that the shoulder strap is on top and the leash-clip strap is on the bottom, forming an oval shape. The unbuckled belly straps will be on both sides of the oval.

    • 3

Stand in front of your dog so that you are face to face.

    • 4

Bring your dog toward you so that its head and neck go into the oval. The shoulder strap will be resting on your dog's shoulders and back, and the leash-clip strap will be horizontal across its chest and collarbone area.

    • 5

Pull the longer belly-strap piece around the outside of your dog's elbows and behind its armpits. It will line up with the shorter belly-strap piece on the opposite side of the harness.

    • 6

      Buckle the belly-strap pieces together

    • 7

Modify the length of all three straps using the adjustment points so that the harness fits securely around your dog's body but isn't so tight that it restricts motion, is difficult to buckle or causes discomfort for your dog.

    • 8

Verify that the metal ring on the leash-clip strap is centered on your dog's chest after making the adjustments in Step 7.

    • 9

Attach the leash to the leash-clip strap on the front
