Things You'll Need
- Tube socks
- Twine
- Scissors
- Pen
Instructions
Find four tube socks around your house. Regular athletic socks also also work, but avoid using ankle socks since they may not be long enough for your dog's paws.
Slip one of the tube socks over one of your dog's paws. Make a mark with your pen about 3 inches above your dog's ankle. You want this extra room so that you can insert your twine in the sock and create a tie.
Remove the tube sock from your dog's paw. Place the marked tube sock on a flat surface next to the other three tube socks, and mark each of these remaining socks in the same location as the first.
Cut each sock at the mark you've made, and throw away the open top portion of each. You should now have four socks with tops removed.
Pick up one of the tube socks, and use your scissors to snip five small holes around the upper portion of the sock. Make sure these holes are about 1/2 inch from the top. Repeat this step with the other three socks.
Cut four 6-inch pieces of twine. Thread one of your pieces of twine in and out of the five holes you cut at the top of one of the socks. Repeat this step with the other three socks and twine pieces. This creates ties that will keep your warmers securely on your dog's paws.
Slip your first sock onto one of your dog's paws and tie a bow with the twine so the sock will not slip off as your dog walks around. Repeat with the remaining socks.
Allow your dog to walk around in his socks and grow accustomed to them. If he tries to bite at the socks or pull at the twine to get them off, gently reprimand him. Praise him the longer he keeps the socks on.
