One brand of inflatable bed is engineered with individual coil air chambers that automatically adjust to the shape and weight of the dog. The coils provide maximum support and comfort, and do not compress or break down. Non-skid rubber feet keep it securely in place on the floor. The beds come in several sizes to fit every type of dog. Fully inflated, the largest beds support dogs weighing 65 pounds and more.
Materials
-
The bed is constructed out of durable 32-gauge vinyl marine material, similar to that used to make rubber rafts. It is not damaged by the dog's nails. The rubber material is easy to wash and sanitize, and it is odor- and bug-resistant. The bed has a soft, natural fleece slip cover that is machine washable.
Features
-
The beds are available in several sizes and come in both round and rectangular shapes. The therapeutic round bed design provides a pillowed head rest built into the outer ring. The beds are between 3 and 5 inches thick when fully inflated, and have a two-way valve that inflates easily and prevents air leaks. The beds inflate in less than 60 seconds using a standard air pump.
Suppliers and Costs
-
Inflatable beds are available online from Amazon.com, as well as from various suppliers of pet furniture. Three major brands include Coleman, Snooz-AIR and the Precision Ortho Air inflatable bed. At time of publication, prices ranged from less than $10 to $48 for the Precision beds, up to $99 for the largest Snooz-AIR and up to $60 for the Coleman.

Inflatable Beds for Dogs
As dogs get older, their muscles and joints need more support just like humans do. Arthritis is common in dogs, and with one in five adult dogs in the U.S. affected by it, it is one of the main sources of chronic pain treated by vets. One of the treatments for joint pain is to make sure your dog sleeps on a surface that provides adequate support, such as an inflatable bed.
