Different dog collars are used for different training methods and general restraint. A collar is best used for walking or training a dog that does not pull hard or does not have problems with his throat or neck. Dogs with respiratory issues should not be walked on a collar as the action of the leash on the collar can slightly restrict the airway. Collars are made of leather, nylon or cloth. Detachable collars usually have buckles or quick-release clasps and while they always need a human to get them on or off, they are simple to work and can be undone quickly if need be.
