Round Donut Dog Bed Instructions

Doughnut-shaped dog beds are suitable for dogs that like to curl up when they sleep --- they provide an enveloping sense of comfort for most small- to medium-sized dogs. If you know your way around a sewing machine, you can create a stylish doughnut bed for your fou- legged friend. Use soft materials such as terry cloth or fleece to make the bed extra comfortable. Although doughnut beds are suitable for most dogs, you should only make this type of bed for a dog that likes to curl up, as it is quite confining.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure your pet to get a rough size of how large --- or small --- you will need to make your pattern.

    • 2

Create a pattern out of a large sheet of paper. The pattern is a basic oval shape, with two notches cut into either end of the oval. Make sure the dog can sit comfortably inside the oval shape.

    • 3

Measure the perimeter of your oval to determine how much tubing you will need for the wall of the bed.

    • 4

Cut out two oval pieces. One oval piece should be cut from terry cloth and the second oval piece should be cut from canvas. These oval pieces will form the base of your bed. Be sure to cut the notches in each oval.

    • 5

Fold your towel in half, with the good sides facing out. Cut the towel length to match the perimeter of your oval. The towel will form the tubing around the bed.

    • 6

Assemble the pieces so the terry cloth oval is sitting on top of the canvas oval. Match the tube seam with the notch on the ovals and pin the tube all the way around the ovals.

    • 7

Sew the edges of the tube to the oval pieces, working your way around the entire perimeter. Make sure you leave a hole at the end to stuff the tube.

    • 8

Stuff the tube fully and then close the hole using your sewing machine.
