DIY: Dog Leash

You can buy a dog leash at any number of different stores across the country, but you'll have the same leash as thousands of other people. If you want something a little bit different for your pooch, you need to make your own dog leash. It seems like a daunting task at first, but with some basic sewing skills and a few readily available parts, you will have a custom leash like no other.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay out the webbing on the table and cut it to approximately six feet in length using the scissors.

    • 2

Lay the ribbon out on top of the webbing; pin the ribbon to the sides of the webbing with the pins to form a ribbon border on the sides of the webbing.

    • 3

Sew the ribbon to the webbing using the sewing machine, trying to aim the stitches towards the meeting point of the ribbon and webbing.

    • 4

Roll over one edge of the leash to form a handle, making the roll large enough to fit your hand. Stitch a 1-inch square on the end of the handle with the sewing machine, then stitch an X in the middle of the square to connect the corners of the square.

Slide the square loop on the metal jean clip onto the opposite end of the leash. Roll over the end of the leash and then stitch another square and X to hold the end of the leash to itself and keep the clip locked in place.
