Have a Raffle
-
Raffles require that someone within the community donate a prize. This could mean that the prize comes from a business, such as a week's worth of free breakfasts, for example, or perhaps a specific service is provided. An individual could also donate the prize, such as an unwanted but conceivably valuable item that would generate interest. Whatever the ultimate prize, however, tickets need to be printed and sold throughout the community at a low cost, with the proceeds going toward providing needed doghouses or other animal supplies to animal owners within the town.
Have a Bake Sale
-
Bake sales have been used by numerous organizations in order to raise money for various causes. Those participating in the bake sale simply bake cakes, pastries, cookies or other items that are widely popular. Then the organizers advertise the bake sale through posters and word of mouth. On the day of the bake sale, tables are set up and the baked goods priced and displayed. The more popular the baked items, the more likely they will be to sell and the higher price for the items the organizers can receive.
Have a Community Yard Sale
-
A community yard sale requires a group or individual with good organizational skills to plan and motivate people to participate. In a community yard sale, a location is selected for the sale, community members are encouraged to donate unwanted items to be sold and the event is widely advertised to generate interest. It is also helpful to let everyone know the purpose of the fund-raiser so that more people will come to the sale. Additionally, it is advisable to advertise outside of the immediate community, especially if the community is especially hard-hit by tough economic times.
Have a Kid's Fair
-
Many towns have kid's fairs for holidays or as fund-raisers in their communities. Kid's fairs are often planned by either the town council, by school board members or by parents. A kid's fair can operate one of two ways. Either the organizing group sells tables where groups or individuals can operate booths with kid-friendly games, or individuals volunteer to operate booths with a kid-friendly themes and charge for each game played. Games such as a bean bag toss, a penny toss or musical chairs are entertaining for children. Simple prizes are then provided to the winners of the games, such as balloons, tiny toys or candy. All the proceeds are then tallied and the earnings used to purchase doghouses and supplies for community animal owners.

Doghouse Fund-Raiser Ideas
In trying economic times, it is difficult for most people to be able to afford their own necessities, let alone the needs of animals. Unfortunately, when this happens, many dog owners end up abandoning their animals because they could not provide essentials, such as a simple doghouse. Yet communities have the ability to assist animal owners by organizing fund-raisers for pets so that an emergency fund for animal essentials, including doghouses, is available to anyone in need.
