Things You'll Need
- Canned spray adhesive
- Streamer paper
- Handheld fans
- Paper plates
- Assorted loose glitter
Instructions
Attach streamer paper to the borders of a Mardi Gras float, if there isn't some already. You can use tape, an ordinary staple gun or tacks to do this in any design you want. Choose streamer paper in a color that is appropriate to the float's theme.
Pile about a cup of loose glitter on a paper plate. Use various colors and sizes of glitter as well as different shapes. This adds texture and sparkle to your float.
Hold a can of craft adhesive spray about 4 inches from the surface of the streamer paper border. Press firmly on the nozzle to release the adhesive over a 12-inch area of the streamers.
Turn the hand-held portable fan on, and hold the plate of glitter in front of it about 3 inches from the glued area of the streamer paper. This will blow the glitter forcefully onto the glue. You can just toss the glitter by hand, but using a fan makes the process quicker and cleaner.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for every 12-inch section of streamer until you have glittered the entire streamer border around the Mardi Gras float. The spray craft glue dries very quickly -- in less than three minutes -- so the glitter should be blown onto it immediately after it is sprayed on the paper.
