How to Make Dog Cots With PVC Pipes

Dogs get just as uncomfortable sleeping on the floor as people do. It's easy enough to relieve this discomfort by building an elevated dog bed designed just for your four-legged friend. These beds don't cost much to make and you can build one in a couple of hours. The result is a safe way for your pet to get up off the hard floor without using your furniture.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the 10-foot PVC pipe into six pieces. Make two pieces 24 inches long, two pieces 28 inches long and four pieces 4 inches long. Or ask your vendor to do this. Hardware stores sometimes offer cutting services for buyers who only need straight cuts.

    • 2

Slide the straight pieces of PVC pipe into the corner pieces, creating a rectangular frame.

    • 3

Insert the 4-inch pieces into the bottom holes of the corner pieces. These form the legs of the dog bed.

    • 4

Place end caps on the bottoms of the PVC pipe legs.

    • 5

Hammer all the pieces firmly together. They should form a nice tight fit, so you do not need to use any adhesive.

    • 6

Flip the bed over to rest on top of the canvas sheet with the four corners of the sheet folded over.

    • 7

Fold the sides of the canvas sheet over each side of the rectangular bed frame. Hold it taut. Screw in place with evenly spaced screws and washers.

    • 8

Flip the bed over and test it. Then invite your dog to do the same.
