Instructions

    • 1

Cut two pieces of your fabric so each is 12 inches by 16 inches.

    • 2

Pin the two pieces of fabric together, with the right sides (the sides that will want showing) facing each other. Starting with the bottom, leave about 1/2 inch as a seam. Sew just the bottom seam.

    • 3

Pull the pieces of fabric apart so the seam is exposed. Hem the sides by folding one inch of the fabric in on the wrong side. Set it by pinning it and then sew the hem, leaving a 1/4-inch seam. Repeat this on the other piece of fabric.

    • 4

To make the seam for where the drawstring will go, fold down one piece of the fabric from what will be the top edge 1/4-inch and then fold it again again one inch and pin it. Sew it so that the seam is 3/4 inch from the top of the bag. Repeat this step with what will be the top edge of the other piece of fabric.

    • 5

Bring the two pieces of fabric back together, with the right sides facing each other. Pin them together, allowing for a 1/2 inch seam. Sew it together.

    • 6

If you've chosen to put a dog-themed patch or badge on your dog bag, place it as desired upside down under the fabric (so the patch will be facing outward on the right side of the fabric. Sew it into place.

Turn the bag right side out. Using the safety pin, guide the ribbon through both sides of the hem. Tie a knot when both ends meet. The knot can be hidden in the channel.
