How to Design Your Own Dog Hoodie

The Humane Society of the United States estimates that 39 percent of U.S. households own at least one dog. Many people consider their dog a member of their family. They take them on family vacations, feed them food from the dinner table and even dress them up in clothes. With enough creativity, you can design a hoodie for your dog, so it will be warm and stylish in cold weather.

Instructions

Search on-line and through magazines for inspiration. Observe what colors and patterns others use.

Take out a piece of paper and pencil and start to draw different patterns. Draw a straight line and work from there. Be creative and don't worry about making mistakes because you can start over on another piece of paper. Some ideas include drawing dog bones, paw prints or your dog's name.

Add color and embellishments. Don't be afraid to use too much color. If you want to use 10 different colors, go ahead. This is your design, and you are allowed to be as creative as you wish. Some examples of embellishments you could use include beads and buttons.

Go to your local fabric store with your design. Ask one of the clerks to help you find the right pattern. It is OK if you don't find the exact pattern because you can adjust to it. Measure your dog's height and length with a measuring tape before picking out material. Consider the fabric's texture, durability and how well it conforms to a shape. Buy a little extra material to be on the safe side. Also, buy the embellishments you plan to use.
