How to Make a Dog Pen Out of Furniture

Although a traditional dog pen provides the most comfortable and convenient storage solution for your pet, you can build a makeshift dog pen using furniture lying around the house. Unfortunately, makeshift pens tend to take up a large amount of space and may lack convenient features such as a door. Your furniture may suffer from scratches at the hand of your pet, so use furniture that is in a less than pristine condition.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the floor of the corner of your room. Move any toys or furniture from the floor. Clean the walls of any posters or paintings.

    • 2

Push a couch or table towards the wall, so that it is perpendicular to one wall and parallel to the other wall. If you use a table, turn the table so that the legs point outward and the surface of the table makes a "wall."

    • 3

Place a tarp or sheet over the couch or table to protect it from scratches and stains.

    • 4

Push another piece of furniture into place to form the fourth wall of the pen. Place this table or couch so that it touches the walls on its right and left. The piece of furniture should "seal" the pen.
