How to Make Your Own Dog Urine Cleaner

The faster you clean up dog urine, the better your chances of combating the smell. Baking soda will be your second best friend when it comes to cleaning up after your dog. Have extra baking soda on hand if your dog urinates often inside or while traveling. Cleaning an area completely where the animal cannot smell it later is the goal. If the dog can smell it, then chances are that she will mark it again later on. To make your own dog urine cleaner, you will want to both clean and deodorize.

Instructions

    • 1

Shake some baking soda onto the urine area. The baking soda will turn yellow as it draws the urine into it. Slip on the disposable gloves and wipe up the baking soda with paper towels. Throw the paper towels away.

    • 2

Pour 15 oz. of hydrogen peroxide in a plastic container.

    • 3

Add 2 tbsp. of baking soda to the hydrogen peroxide. The baking soda is the ingredient that will be the most effective in removing the dog urine odor.

    • 4

Add two squirts of liquid dish detergent into the hydrogen peroxide mixture. Using a high-quality dish detergent will be the most effective.

    • 5

Mix the ingredients with a plastic spoon until the baking soda is dissolved.

    • 6

Pour the ingredients onto the dog urine directly from the plastic container or pour them into a spray bottle and spray onto the urine area. Do not shake the mixture. Use all of the mixture on the pet urine area and discard any unused ingredients.

    • 7

Scrub the ingredients and dog urine area away with a sponge. Discard the sponge and gloves after use.

    • 8

Rinse the area with warm water several times. Dry with a clean towel.
