Instructions
Locate the source of the smell by looking behind and under furniture.
Put on rubber gloves and old clothing to avoid staining good clothes. Scoop up any excrement with paper towels.
Blot the area with paper towels until most of the waste you can see is gone.
Wet a cloth or small towel and wring out the excess water. Squirt 1 tsp. of liquid dish detergent on cloth. Soap up the stained area by rubbing back and forth across the spot with the sudsy cloth.
Fold several paper towels in half and stack them on the area you just scrubbed. This will remove some of the excess soap.
Pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar in a plastic quart pitcher. Fill the pitcher the rest of the way with warm water.
Tilt the pitcher slightly and pour out a little of the vinegar/water mixture over the smelly area.
Place folded cloth towels on top of the wet area to soak up the liquid. If the surface is fabric or carpet, leave the towels on the stain for four to six hours. Place weighty objects like books on top of the towels to force the rags to soak up the liquid.
Open any nearby windows and turn on ceiling fans to add circulation to the room. Spray the area with a deodorizing aerosol product.
