Homemade Doggie Diapers

A doggie diaper is used just like a baby diaper, but on dogs that are either in heat or have reached an age where they are incontinent. Due to the nature of the shape and build of dogs it is likely difficult to find a secure method of diapering yours without chafing or making it uncomfortable. There is an easy way to alter something unfit for your special pet into a well fitting article of clothing that will set you and your dog at ease.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay a child's swimming diaper flat on the table with the front side facing upward.

    • 2

Measure the widest point of your dog's tail with a measuring tape. You can squeeze the fur so it is flat against the tail when you are measuring as long as you aren't causing the dog any discomfort.

    • 3

Draw a circle to the size of your dog's tail 2 or 3 inches above the crotch of the diaper with a marker. The circle should be centered along the width of the diaper.

    • 4

Punch a hole in the center of the circle with scissors and cut it out along the line you drew. You should only cut through the front side of the diaper, not the bottom side.

    • 5

Place the back of the diaper against your dog's tummy, with the top edge towards its head.

    • 6

Pull the rest of the diaper up and over the dog's tail so the front of the diaper rests on its back.

    • 7

Poke the dog's tail through the hole in the top and close the tabs of the diaper around its body.
