Instructions
Choose fabric heavy enough to be durable, such as duck cloth, upholstery and sailcloth.
Select thread color to match or coordinate with fabric. Or try a different shade on top thread from the bobbin thread to add a nice contrast to the finished product.
Cut two fabric pieces 1 1/2 inches larger on all sides than the finished bed will be to give you room for seams.
Put the right sides of fabric together and on one side put a straight pin in the fabric facing edge. Begin sewing about 6 inches past the pin mark, 1 1/2 inches from the edge.
Continue sewing around the entire piece and stop at the pin mark you placed. This will give you a 6-inch hole to insert the fill for the bed. Make small snips with scissors at any corners and curves toward the sewn seam, taking care not to cut into the sewn line. These snips will help the fabric lie flatter at the corners.
Pull the fabric right side out through the hole and place poly fill inside to the firmness you desire. Use more stuffing for a heavier pet.
Press the 6-inch open area together and sew it closed, staying close to the edge with the line of thread.
