Things You'll Need
- 1 Nylon webbing--½-inch wide
- Sharp scissors
- D-rings
- Needle
- Polyester thread
- Polyester fleece
- 1-inch-wide Nylon webbing
- Slide release buckles
Instructions
Cut a strap of nylon webbing that goes from the back of one of the dog̵7;s shoulder blades to the other, crossing in front of his chest. Use sharp scissors for a smooth cut.
Attach a D-ring to each end of the strap. Use a needle and polyester thread to attach the buckles. This is the front strap.
Make a rolled up tube of polyester fleece to pad the front strap. The padding should be as long the strap and four or five layers thick. Sew the padding onto the strap with a needle and thread.
Measure a strap of 1-inch nylon webbing that goes behind your dog̵7;s neck, over his shoulders and crosses front strap perpendicularly. This will create the hole through which your dog will put his head.
Add several inches to the length of the 1-inch webbing and cut the strap in half. This is to accommodate the slide release buckles.
Sew one end of each piece onto the front strap. They should be attached to the point where the straps passed each other when placed on your dog, roughly the middle of his shoulder assembly.
Fit the two parts of a slide release buckle onto the loose ends of the 1-inch webbing. These are sewn in place and will allow you to adjust the strap while your dog is wearing the harness.
Slip the harness you have made so far over your dog̵7;s head.
Wrap a piece of 1-inch webbing around your dog̵7;s body. This webbing should cross the ends of the front strap with the D-rings on and go all around his stomach. Add several inches to this strap also to accommodate the buckle. Cut this strap in half as well.
Lay the webbing across your dogs back so that equal lengths are hanging down on either side. Sew this strap so it meets the front straps at 90-degree angles. The rest of the strap should be left hanging below his body.
Attach the parts of the slide buckle to ends of the straps hanging down. The buckle will allow you to open the harness and slip it on your dog.
Attach the shafts of the cart to the D-rings on the ends of the front strap.
