Dog Hair Bow Instructions

People often adorn their dog's hair with bows to make them look extra spiffy for a day out. Special dog bows are available to match sweaters or other doggie clothes, encrusted with tiny jewels or sequins and in an array of colors that look lovely against a dog's hair. These bows are available in pet supply shops, veterinarian's offices and even from groomers. However, it is just as simple to make a bunch of your own dog bows at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure a 7.5-inch length of ribbon.

    • 2

Clip the ribbon from the roll, making sure to cut each end of the ribbon at an angle for a neater-looking finished product.

    • 3

Cross the ends of your ribbon to make an 'x' with a loop on top. (It should look like the pink Breast Cancer Awareness symbol.)

    • 4

Push the loop of the ribbon to meet the center of the 'x'. Hold the loop there. (Now the ribbon should look like a little bow.)

    • 5

Place the rubber band at the back side of the bow. The entire circle of the band should lie flat against the bow.

    • 6

Bend the top of the rubber band over the top of the bow. Meet the top of the rubber band with the bottom of the rubber band at the bottom of the bow.

    • 7

Pass the top end of the rubber band through the bottom end. Pull the top end through the tails of the ribbon towards the back of the bow.

    • 8

Gently tug on the end of the rubber band to tighten it to the bow. The bow is now ready to use.
