Wire Kennels for Dogs

Wire kennels provide beneficial indoor confinement for puppies and dogs. Since dogs are natural den animals, most get used to kennels through short training sessions. Purchase a crate that is well manufactured and of quality materials strong enough to enclose your pet. Ideal size is a crate that will accommodate your dog when fully standing and allows the dog room to move around easily.

    Two Door Kennels

    • At times it is beneficial to purchase a wire kennel that offers two-door access. These are typically applicable for use in a vehicle or space where a door is needed on the long side of the kennel. Doors are found on the front or narrow side of the kennel and on the long or side of the kennel.

      Only a few manufacturers make these kennels, and most are available from specialty canine retailers.

    Suitcase or Folding Wire Kennels

    • Long a staple of dog training professionals, this style of wire kennel allows you to fold the kennel flat and carry it with a handle. These are most appropriate for multi-pet families as the folded kennels take up little space when packed in a car or recreational vehicle. Each dog then has his own space when a destination has been reached. The suitcase kennel is also applicable for occasional canine guests as it can fold away for easy storage.

      Purchase a quality crate that locks securely when being folded and carried. Sizes are similar to those of typical one-piece crates and are made to accommodate all sizes of dogs. This style crate is carried only by retailers that specialize in canine products.
