Instructions
Choose an indoor dog ramp that has a gradual slope. If the ramp is too steep, your dog may not understand the functionality, and may even injure himself while trying to climb it.
Test out the indoor dog ramp before purchasing it. Make sure it doesn't wobble when set up against a surface. This could frighten or even injure your dog.
Make sure the ramp you choose is appropriate for your dog's size. A very small dog will most likely be able to use a lightweight ramp. However, a larger dog or a dog that's overweight will need a wide, sturdy ramp.
Consider the weight of an indoor dog ramp. It needs to be sturdy enough for your dog to use it, but if you plan to move it from room to room, then you or someone in your household needs to be able to physically lift the ramp. A ramp that you can easily move will also be easier to store.
Choose a ramp that has an anti-slip mechanism on both ends. This will ensure that the indoor dog ramp doesn't slide from the surface it's resting against or across the floor as your dog tries to use it. If it slips while your dog is on it, he could get injured, or he could be too afraid of the ramp to try to use it again.
Examine the indoor dog ramp carefully before purchasing it to make sure there are no sharp edges or loose pieces that could hurt your dog as he uses it.
How to Choose an Indoor Dog Ramp
Dog ramps can be very useful for you and your dog. Older dogs, dogs with certain types of disabilities, or even very small dogs may need an indoor dog ramp to help them climb stairs or get up onto their favorite chair. Watching your dog struggle can be painful, and you may not be able to physically lift your dog onto an elevated surface. An indoor dog ramp may be the perfect solution for both of you.
