How to Use a Two-Dog Coupler

A two-dog coupler is an extremely useful product for walking two dogs at one time without having leashes and dogs wrapping around your legs. Two dogs do not always look at the same objects or people and may circle back around you or try to run in two directions at once. This can wreak havoc on the handler and causes many accidents by falling every year. There are various sizes and materials to choose from in a two-dog coupler but the standard length of a coupler lead is 12 inches long.

Call the two dogs to you. They should be wearing collars with a leash ring on them. Open the clip end of one 12-inch lead on the coupler and clip it onto the leash ring on one collar. Make sure that when the clip is released that it fastens securely.

Hold the second 12-inch coupler lead so that it is at a 45-degree angle from the one on the first dog. Make sure that the two leads are not crossing but are free and separate from each other. Open the clip on the second 12-inch coupler lead and fasten it to the second dog's collar. Make sure it is a secure connection.
