How to Make Malamute Dog Biscuits

Because your malamute is a big dog with big mouth and an even bigger appetite, ordinary dog biscuits aren't going to be enough of a reward for being a good dog. Rather than go broke buying extra-large specialty dog biscuits at the pet supply store, you can make your own supersize treats at home. Homemade dog biscuits are much cheaper, and you can customize the flavoring for your dog's specific palate. With the right cookie cutter(s), you can make your malamute's biscuits as large as you want.

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Make sure one oven rack is in the center of the oven so the biscuits will bake evenly.

    • 2

Combine one egg, the dry milk, garlic, oil, baby food and broth in the bowl. Mix thoroughly.

    • 3

Slowly add the flour and oatmeal. If you need to add more flour to make a stiff dough, do so 2 tbsp. at a time. Blend thoroughly and shape into a ball of dough with your hands.

    • 4

Sprinkle flour on your countertop and roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use big dog bone or other large cookie cutters to cut out your dog biscuits. Place biscuits on an ungreased cookie sheet.

    • 5

Bake the biscuits for 20 to 25 minutes. Allow the biscuits to cool thoroughly.

    • 6

Use a fork to beat the remaining egg with 2 tbsp. broth in a small bowl to make the glaze. Brush onto the cooled biscuits with your pastry brush and allow to dry.
