Label Maker
-
Make an inexpensive pet ID tag with your label maker. Include your pet's name and your address and phone number. Slip one end of the label through the D-ring on a pet's collar and then press the two sides together. The tag will not be lost by a metal jump ring disengaging as metal engraved tags sometimes do.
Cloth Labels
-
Order cloth tags with the pet's name and your contact information. Slip one end through the D-ring of a pet's collar and sew the ends together. If your pet still manages to lose the tag, you'll have others on hand to attach a new one.
Shrinky Dinks Tags
-
Decorate a Shrinky Dinks plastic sheet with colored pencils or acrylic paint. Include artwork and the appropriate identification information. Bake the sheet according to the directions; the tag will shrink. Cut out the tag, punch a hole in it and spray it with matte clear coat spray to seal it. Attach the the tag to your pet's collar using the metal jump ring.

Homemade Pet ID Tags
Save money and make sure your pet has a tag at all times by crafting a handmade pet ID tag. In a perfect world, every pet would be microchipped, so anyone finding your pet could have him traced by the local shelter or vet. There is nothing like a readily readable ID tag, however, with instructions on where to find a pet's owner.
