Frontline vs. Advantix

Frontline and Advantix are both flea and tick control products for pets. The dosage per pet is determined by weight, and neither product should be used on animals less than 8 weeks old. Consult your veterinarian before starting either treatment.
  1. Type

    • Both Frontline and Advantix are liquid products that you apply to the animal's skin under the fur on the neck. Both products are waterproof, but the animal should not be submerged within 24 hours of application.

    Time Frame

    • Frontline and Advantix both last for a 30-day period. After 30 days, you should reapply in order to maintain flea and tick control.

    Features

    • Advantix kills and repels fleas, ticks and mosquitoes, and it also repels flies and kills lice. Frontline kills and repels fleas and ticks.

    Effects

    • Frontline should kill fleas within 12 hours and ticks within two days. Advantix works at about the same rate as Frontline and will also kill lice on your pet in a week.

    Warning

    • Frontline makes both feline and canine versions of flea and tick control, but Advantix is to be used on dogs only. Because both products have chemicals in them, wash your hands immediately after application.
