Instructions
Install the wireless dog fence transmitter box inside your home. Place the device in a dry space away from nearby metal objects. Metal interferes with the transmitter and reduces the signal strength. The device should be elevated at least 3 feet from the ground for the best results and powered either by batteries or a nearby electrical outlet. Follow the directions for your particular dog fence.
Place the boundary flags at the edge of the area in which you want your pet to stay.
Turn on your wireless dog fence and adjust the range. Your particular device probably has both a high and low setting. The transmitter creates a circular boundary shape in your yard. The circular shape itself cannot be changed, only the range. If you have a big yard, you may need to buy more than one transmitter. You can find wireless dog fences for up to a half-acre property if necessary.
Test the electronic dog collar before sending your dog into the yard. Make sure the wireless dog fence device is turned on. Hold the dog collar at the height of your dog's neck and walk to the edge of the boundary. The warning beep should sound when you approach the edge. If the warning signal does not sound, adjust the range once again or refer to your owner's manual.
Place the electronic dog collar on your dog after making sure the wireless dog fence is active all the way around the yard. Your dog will receive a minor shock when ignoring the warning signal and during an attempt to pass through the edge of the wireless dog fence boundary.
Follow the instructions for training your dog with your new wireless dog fence. Training generally consists of teaching your dog where the boundaries are and making sure your dog responds to the shock deterrent. It takes a couple weeks to train dogs using these devices.
How to Use A Wireless Dog Fence
A wireless dog fence is a device used to prevent a dog from leaving the yard. The device runs on batteries, or plugs directly into the wall, which transmits a signal to the electronic collar on the dogs neck. The dog receives a minor static jolt if an attempt is made to pass through the wireless dog fence. Wireless dog fence products are approved by the humane society and regarded as safe devices for pets.
