Holiday Collars for Dogs

Dressing your dog up for the holidays is a great way to show enjoyment in the holidays and to get into the holiday spirit. Dog collars can help you get into the festivities, and can be important for dog shows, family gatherings, and holiday celebrations at home.
  1. Patterned Collars

    • The most popular types of holiday collars for dogs are patterned collars. Collars are made up of material which can be patterned to fit any holiday or time of the year. Red collars with green trees are perfect for Christmas. Pink collars with red hearts fit for Valentine's Day. Red, white, and blue patterned collars decorate your dog for the fourth of July. You can make patterned collars yourself. Buy a plain collar from the store and use fabric markers to create a pattern on them. Buy several types of fabric from the store and cut and sew pattern pieces onto a store-bought collar.

    Collars with Attachments

    • Other holiday collars include those with attachments. Some regular collars might include jingle bells for winter time or the Christmas Holiday season. Collars that are not made for regular use, but only for decoration might include elastic collars with bows and bells for the holiday. Pink tulle collars might be used to celebrate Valentines Day. Some holiday collars might include elastic bands or bandannas that are decorated for the season--with fall leaves, snow men or American flags.

    Collars and Outfits

    • Sometimes, a holiday collar is only the start to a holiday outfit for your dog. A bright red collar might include a harness and a red pair of pants, complete with a red hat--for a Santa costume for your dog. For a witch costume for Halloween, you might include a big green ruffle collar to help your dog play the part. A red and white striped collar that includes a red and white striped hat might be a candy-cane costume for your dog's holiday attire.
