Things You'll Need
- Can of sliced beets
- Colander
- Paper towels
- Parchment paper
- Cookie sheet
- Wire rack
Instructions
Drain the beets completely. Pour the beets into the colander and run clear water over them until the draining water is no longer pink.
Let the beet slices dry out a little. Place the beets flat on a layer of paper towels to let some of the excess water drip off of them while you prepare the next step. They should not be stacked, but lying flat.
Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Line the cookie sheet with parchment paper. Cut off a piece of parchment paper that will fit snugly within the lip of the cookie sheet. If it does not have a lip, then just cut the paper so that it is slightly smaller than the cookie sheet itself.
Spread the beet slices out on the sheet. They should lie flat and should be entirely on top of the parchment paper.
Bake the beet slices for 35 minutes. This will dry out the beets, creating a crunchy, sweet treat that dogs will love.
Spread the dried beet slices on a wire cooling rack. Allow to cool for about an hour, then store in sealable plastic bags or airtight containers.
