Softie muzzles for dogs are produced by the ProGuard Company. These soft muzzles are made from nylon side panels and a front fishnet plastic mesh section, which allows the dog to breathe easily while muzzled. The Softie muzzle has an adjustable back strap which is made to snap quickly behind the dog's head. The muzzle is washable and resistant to tears and punctures. Softie muzzles are created to be easily secured around dog muzzles with optimum comfort to the dog.
Uses
-
Softie dog muzzles can be used for temporary restraint of dogs in situations such as grooming and training. Muzzles, of any kind, are never to be placed on a dog as a form of punishment. Softie muzzles are also frequently used in veterinarian clinics for fast procedures that require minimal restraint, such as administration of vaccines, recording temperature and physical examinations. Softie muzzles are only intended for mild restraint and should never be used on aggressive dogs.

Softie muzzles are available in five sizes and colors. To find out the right Softie size for your dog, measure the circumference of the dog's muzzle at the widest point behind the nose. The smallest Softie is blue and has a total circumference of 7.5 inches. The medium Softie is orange and has a total circumference of 9.5 inches. The large Softies is green and has a total circumference of 11 inches. The extra large Softie is yellow and has a total circumference of 12.5 inches. Softie dog muzzles are available in some pet stores and veterinary clinics. The muzzles may also be purchased through online Internet stores or in wholesale numbers directly online through the ProGuard store. Many of the larger sizes of Softies may be difficult to find, so always call ahead to a pet store or veterinary clinic to ensure they have the size you are looking for. The Softie muzzle is on average between $10.00 to $20.00 dollars, depending on the size of the muzzle.
Cautions
-
Muzzles should never be left on unsupervised dogs; always use supervision when you are using this product. Muzzles, even soft ones, interfere with a dog's ability to naturally cool itself through panting. Never, ever, leave a muzzle on a dog in warm weather, in a confined area such as a crate or for long periods of time. If you notice that your dog is having difficulty breathing, immediately remove the muzzle. Always read the instructions and use guide before using a muzzle on your dog.
