Things You'll Need
- 3/4 cup bacon grease, divided
- 5 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup low sodium beef broth
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Grease a cookie sheet with 1 tablespoon of the bacon grease. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix the remaining bacon grease with whole wheat flour, beef broth, milk and garlic. Work it into a dough. Whisk the eggs in a bowl, then add them to the flour mixture.
Lightly flour your hands and roll the dough into several-sized balls [1/2" to 2"] to make them more interesting. Flatten the balls into round flats.
Place the flat rounds 1 inch apart on the greased baking sheet. Position a rack in the middle of the oven, place the baking sheet on the middle rack and bake your biscuits at 350 degrees F for 22 to 25 minutes or until they are golden brown.
Store unused portions in a jar; if you freeze them, use a resealable bag. Place them in the refrigerator for up to a few days, and no more than one year in the freezer. Make sure you put a date label on your container.
