How to Make a Natural Tick Control For Pets

Ticks are a serious danger to the health of your pet. However, traditional forms of tick control can be just as harmful as the ticks themselves. Chemicals in products like Frontline do control ticks, but they also expose your pet with a myriad of chemicals. These can have serious effects on the liver function of your pet, especially if used for treatment over years. Fortunately, there are natural ways to control ticks without compromising your pet's well being.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a bottle of rose geranium oil. This can usually be found at stores that specialize in organic and natural products. If no such store is in your area, you can purchase rose geranium oil on the Internet.

    • 2

Get a small spray bottle. Pour a couple of tablespoons of rose germanium oil into the bottle and then fill it with water.

    • 3

Shake the bottle to dilute the oil.

    • 4

Use the remaining oil to put three or four drops on your pet's collar.

    • 5

Use the spray bottle to lightly wet your pet's coat with the diluted solution.

    • 6

Use the solution to combat ticks that have already hitched a ride on your animal. Spray it directly on the tick. The tick will die quickly and release from your pet's skin.
