How to Make Disposable Dog Diapers

Use store-bought diapers designed for infants or adults when you need to diaper your dog, because the super-absorbent diaper material is perhaps the only material capable of adequately containing your dog's waste. Baby diapers are sold in different sizes according to the weight of the baby, and these sizes will work according to the weight of your dog as well. Use adult diapers if your dog weighs more than 40 pounds.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the diaper and hold it by the tab fasteners. These fasteners are on the back part of the diaper that will go over your dog's back.

    • 2

Find the spot on the back of the diaper where the padding thickness changes. The color might also change, for example, the thickest part might be light blue while the rest is white.

    • 3

Cut an "X" in the back part of the diaper just above the point where the thick padding ends. The size of the "X" depends on the size of your dog's tail. Make it big enough to get your dog's tail through without distressing him or her.

    • 4

Put the dog's tail through the hole and work the diaper down the tail while trying to avoid brushing the fur the wrong way. Make sure that the back panel with the tabs is on the back of the dog.

    • 5

Tuck the front panel of the diaper between the dog's hind legs and then fasten the sticky tabs from the back panel over the front panel to secure the diaper.
