How to Install Guardian Underground Dog Fencing

Guardian underground dog fences are not actually physical fences, but underground sensors that send messages to a particular collar when the dog walks past a designated area. Once the dog collar is activated, the collar delivers a small shock. These sensors can be installed underground after a little digging.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine where you want the perimeter of the underground fencing to be.

    • 2

Use small flags to mark off where you intend to put the underground sensors. Do not remove the flags after placing the sensors. These flags will remind you of where you placed the sensors in case you ever decide to remove them.

    • 3

Dig one long hole along the perimeter. Make the hole as narrow as possible. This trench should be 1 to 6 inches deep.

    • 4

Lay the sensor wire in one continual piece.

    • 5

Choose a location for the transmitter that shields the transmitter from weather and also contains a power source.

    • 6

Drill a hole into one of the walls of the structure that contains the transmitter. Run both wire ends through the hole.

    • 7

The transmitter will have two terminals. Attach one wire to each of them. Screw the transmitter onto a wall.

    • 8

Fill in the holes where the wire has been buried. Use sealant on the hole in order to prevent heat and cold from traveling through the hole.
