How to Make a Play Area for Your Small Dog or Puppy Without Ruining Your Floor

Play areas in your home allow puppies and small dogs to be active while being contained in one area. Dedicate a section of a room for the play area, but take steps to protect the floor underneath. Keep the mess from dogs, especially puppies that aren't house-trained, to a minimum with special flooring.

Instructions

    • 1

Assemble a circular, enclosed baby gate or dog pen. Ensure that the walls of the gate are high enough to contain your puppy.

    • 2

Cut or create a piece of cardboard that is slightly larger than the play area space. A discarded box from a washer or dryer would be ideal.

    • 3

Attach the linoleum tiles to the cardboard until the entire surface is covered. The linoleum will provide an easy-to-clean surface and protect the floor underneath.

    • 4

Place the cardboard floor underneath the gate. Add toys and a blanket during play time.
