How to Stuff a Dog Bed

Every pooch can appreciate a soft, comfy bed. Unfortunately, stuffing flattens over time. When you stuff a dog bed, it's important to add enough filling. This creates an even cushion capable of withstanding your dog's weight over an extended time period. This is particularly important with elderly dogs prone to aches and pains.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay out the dog bed form flat on a table, countertop, or other flat surface. If the access panel is beneath the dog bed, lay it upside down. Note the measurements from inside seam to inside seam, both ways.

    • 2

Stretch cotton batting out on another section of countertop. Use a measuring tape and a marker to mark off the correct size. Cut out the piece of batting.

    • 3

Use the cut piece of stuffing as a template to create additional pieces. Cut as many as desired for the thickness you prefer. Stack the cotton batting pieces in a neat pile.

    • 4

Grasp the pieces together on one end. Roll the batting forward into one large roll. Insert the roll inside the dog bed form.

    • 5

Unroll the cotton batting carefully inside the dog bed. Stretch corners into place using your fingers to get into the corners. Smooth any bumps until all pieces of batting lay flat. Examine the thickness of the dog bed, adding more sheets of batting if necessary.

    • 6

Close the opening. Some dog beds come with zippers; others will require a simple running stitch to close.
