Tools Needed
-
You will need two 13mm wrenches to install a Springer dog exerciser. You also need to know the diameter of your seat tube in millimeters, or measure it to be sure.
Insert Installation
-
Place the insert or inserts on the seat tube of your bicycle. Each insert has a slot that opens to place around the seat tube. Assemble the inserts according to the seat tube size.
36 mm Larger blue insert over smaller blue insert
32 mm Larger blue insert
28 mm Larger blue insert over white insert
25 mm Larger blue insert over white insert over red insert
Clamp Installation
-
Turn the inserts on the seat tube to line up with the opening facing the front of the bike. Place each half of the metal clamp over the inserts, with the center opening facing the side that you want your dog to walk on. Align the bolt-holes and insert the four corner bolts. Hold each bolt in place with a 13mm wrench and tighten the bolt onto each one with a second wrench.
Spring and S-Tube Assembly
-
Hold the S-tube in one hand, with the straight bar horizontal. Place the coiled end of the spring on the top piece of the S-tube that is facing upward. Turn the spring to screw it onto the S-tube about 1 inch down from the top. Place the larger bolt in the center opening of the clamp. Insert the horizontal portion of the S-tube over the protruding end of the bolt and secure it with the locking pin.
Cord, Clip and Safety Release Assembly
-
Press the largest hole on the safety release into the top hook of the spring. Insert the cord through the hole in the metal hook. Pull the cord tip through and tie it in a knot. Insert the opposite end of the cord through the appropriate hole in the safety release and tie it into a knot.
Smallest hole Bikers under 110 lbs./small dogs under 44 lbs.
Middle hole Bikers over 110 lbs./medium dogs over 44 lbs.
Largest hole Strong, skilled cyclists/Large pulling dogs
Adjustments
-
If your heel touches the horizontal portion of the S-tube, loosen the four nuts on the clamp and push the inserts and clamp upwards. Tighten the nuts with a 13mm wrench.
Usage
-
Attach the metal clip to your dog̵7;s leash. Ride very slowly for both you and your pet to acclimate to the new mode of exercise. Ride where your pet can walk on grass or a sandy surface as opposed to hot streets.

How to Install a Springer Dog Exerciser
The Springer dog exerciser attaches to a bicycle so your pet can join you in your exercise regime. This product is constructed of heavy-duty steel to keep your dog by your side. The impact of your pet pulling on attached rope is absorbed by a large spring. The spring keeps your dog from pulling you to the side as you ride and causes less tugging on his collar. A patented safety release allows the rope attachment to pull away from the Springer exerciser in the case that you and your dog choose opposite directions to go around an object.
