Things You'll Need
- 2-b- 4 lumber
- Circular saw
- Pencil
- Straight edge
- Flat steel braces and flat corner braces
- Screws
- Drill
- Screwdriver
Instructions
Cut 8 identical pieces of 2-by-4s with a circular saw. The length of the boards should be the same as the width of the dog kennel's frame.
Draw a 45 degree line from the lower corner of each board's ends, using a pencil and a straight edge.
Cut along the lines with the saw. This will remove a small triangle from the ends of each board, leaving the ends identically angled.
Construct two triangles from the boards and attach the remaining two boards together, making a "V." The angled ends will miter together easily. Secure the joints with flat corner braces and screws. Place the braces neatly over the point of contact between two boards, drill and insert screws through the holes.
Attach a triangle of 2-by-4s to the front and back of the dog house frame, using the flat steel braces and screwing them securely in place. Secure the "V" in the middle of the dog house frame. The frame of the roof is now complete. Plywood or wood planks can be laid over the frame to finish the roof.
