Instructions
Measure your dog's neck.
Cut a piece of webbing that is 6 inches longer than your dog's neck measurement. Cut a piece of ribbon that is 7 inches longer than your dog's neck measurement.
Seal the edges of the nylon webbing by holding it near the flame of a candle or a lighter until you see the edge melt slightly.
Layer the ribbon over the webbing so that one-half-inch of ribbon overlaps on each side. Fold the ends of the ribbon over the edges of the webbing. Pin the webbing and ribbon together. Both right sides should be facing up.
Thread your machine with thread that matches your ribbon. Sew the ribbon to the webbing along each edge.
Unclip the buckle. Thread three inches from one end of the webbing through one side of the buckle. Pin the overlapping webbing and secure by sewing it.
Thread the D-ring onto the collar.
Thread the other end of the webbing through the other part of the buckle and overlap it by three inches. Pin it together, and carefully try the collar on your dog. It should fit snuggly, but you still want to be able to insert two fingers between your dog's neck and the collar. Adjust the size of the collar as needed and re-pin.
Secure the buckle by sewing it with the sewing machine.
Embellish your dog collar if desired by sewing on buttons, rhinestones, feathers or other special touches.
