How to Make a Fleece-Tie Dog Bed

Even if you don't know how to sew, you can make a serviceable bed for your dog. With two pieces of fleece and some fiberfill, you can easily create a bed that can be used for any size dog, as well as for pet cats. Once you've learned the process, you can add some embellishments to your next bed.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the fleece. You will need two pieces, each 26 inches square. If you have a much larger or smaller dog that won't fit on a bed this size, measure the fleece against them and cut accordingly. Both pieces must be the same in dimensions and line up exactly when you stack one on top of the other.

    • 2

Create the fringe. After stacking the fleece pieces, cut a 4-inch square from each corner. Then cut fringe all the way around the edges of the fleece. Each piece of fringe should be 1 inch wide and 4 inches long.

    • 3

Tie the fringe. Beginning at one corner, tie the top and bottom pieces of fringe together with tight, double knots. Do this around the entirety of the fleece until you have only four or five sets of fringe left to tie.

Stuff the bed. Using the opening you left in the fringe, stuff the bed full of fiberfill. Use enough that it makes the bed soft, but not so much that it pulls the fleece tight or makes the bed too firm. Once you are done stuffing, tie the last pieces of fringe.
