Instructions
Measure the length of your dog. You want to build a bed that allows your dog to both curl up and to stretch out fully. You wouldn't want your toes hanging off the end of your bed; the same goes for your dog.
Cut the lengths of your pipe to suit the measurements of your dog. Cut four leg pieces 4 inches in length. Insert the frame of the bed into the corner pieces and hammer them in tightly. Flip the frame over, insert the legs into the corner pieces and hammer them in tightly.
Place your frame over the Cordura fabric and cut it to size. Fold the edges over and wrap the fabric on the underside of the PVC tubing and screw it to the tubing. Make sure the fabric is tight.
Choose a fabric to sew a mattress cushion for your dog bed. Microfabrics and industrial upholstery are viable options. Use a light-colored fabric to attract the least amount of sunshine, keeping the bed cooler. Use measurements the size of the elevated dog bed platform to cut out the fabric for the cushion. Sew three sides shut and a zipper into the third side to allow for cleaning and refilling the cushion.
Choose a filler for your dog bed. Cedar chips, memory foam, synthetic or polyester filling are common choices. Insert the filler into the cover and zip it up.
