How to Make a Fleece Pet Cushion

Giving your pet a comfortable, warm place to sleep is one of the kindest acts you can bestow upon your best friend. Fleece is a tough material that holds up well with frequent use and multiple washings. Designing and sewing a fleece cushion made just for your pet is an inexpensive way to ensure your pet has a safe and cozy spot to curl up in and call its own.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure your pet. Be sure to have 3 to 6 inches of extra space for your pet to stretch out on.

    • 2

Cut about 2 yards of fleece fabric. Use more or less fabric, depending on the size of your pet. Choose colors or patterns that match your existing decor, or choose something you think your pet would enjoy.

    • 3

Pin the fleece fabric so there is only an opening at one side.

    • 4

Stuff the fleece fabric with filler, such as old pillows, blankets or memory foam. Check to make sure the filler is evenly distributed throughout the cushion to avoid uncomfortable lumps.

    • 5

Sew the sides of the cushion using a needle and thread or a sewing machine. The seams should not bulge from the tension of the filler. The seams should be snug and secure so the filler does not move around.
