How to Knit Animal Coats

Most people who own animals love to dress them up; some owners might purchase clothing for their animals and others might choose to knit them in order to save money. For example, knitting a winter coat for a small or large dog is a nice treat for both the owner and the dog. The dog receives a new outfit and the owner has the pleasure of knitting a gift of warmth for their dog.

      Cast on 24 stitches; gauge 13 stitches, 18 rows per four inch. Knit first three rows in garter stitch. Work right side, knit four stitches, knit one. Then purl one, knit four stitches three times, and knit four stitches -- first row.

      Work wrong side, knit four, and increase one. Purl four, knit one stitch three times. Purl one, increase one, and knit four. Row two 26 stitches. Keep the first and last stitches on every row in garter stitch throughout pattern.
