Things You'll Need
- 150 grit sandpaper
- Cloth
- Soap
- Super glue
- Plastic repair material
- Putty knife
Instructions
Assess the damage. Depending on the size and location of the crack or break, you will need to make a decision as to what material would be best to repair it and if it is indeed repairable.
Sand down the area around the break or crack with sandpaper to smooth out any splinters or rough edges in the crack or break.
Clean the area thoroughly with soap and water using a clean cloth. This helps ensure your repair will be as effective as possible by keeping grit, sand or other debris out of the way.
Press the sides of the crack together so that the edges meet if the crack is narrow enough to allow you to do this. If not, go to Step 6.
Apply super glue along the cracked area and maintain pressure to keep it sealed until the glue dries and cements. Check the instructions of any glue used to determine the time needed for this.
Mix the plastic repair material you choose according to the directions of the packaging.
Apply the malleable, plastic putty with putty knife over the area cracked or broken, making sure you cover the entire breach in the material, packing it into any open space completely. Then, let the material harden for whatever time recommended by the package directions.
Sand and clean the finished, hardened seal gently to edge out rough spots or surplus putty or glue as well as to clean away any leftover residue.
Paint the area to match the current color or paint the entire exterior to create a finished look.
