Instructions

    • 1

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Pour a cup of water into your small saucepan, and bring it to a boil.

    • 2

In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats and margarine. Add the boiling water and allow this mixture to stand for 10 minutes. While you wait, grease the cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray or margarine.

    • 3

Add the cornmeal, beaten egg, sugar, bouillon, milk and cheddar cheese to your mixing bowl. Stir well, adding one cup of flour at a time. Continue mixing ingredients until they form a stiff dough.

    • 4

Sprinkle a little flour on a table or counter top to prevent dough from sticking to its surface. Remove the dough from the bowl and place it on the floured surface. Knead the dough thoroughly. If it appears sticky, add additional flour as necessary. The dough should be smooth in texture.

    • 5

Using your rolling pin, roll your kneaded dough to a thickness of 1/2-inch. Cut your treats out of the dough using cookie cutters. Place the treats on your greased cookie sheet, leaving one inch between each cookie.

    • 6

Place the cookies in your preheated oven. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until treats are golden brown. Cool thoroughly before serving to your pet and store leftovers in a covered container.
