Remote Control Toys for Dogs

Remote controlled toys are much appreciated by dogs because they are fun and because they cater to a dog's prey drive. Prey drive is a dog's instinct to chase animated objects or anything alive that moves. It derives from a dog's natural instinct to chase prey in order to survive. While domesticated dogs no longer depend on prey to survive, this instinct has still remained quite alive, especially in some breeds. A remote control toy is a great solution for high energy dogs looking for interactive games to play.
  1. GoDogGo

    • Playing fetch has never been that easy.

This remote controlled tennis ball launcher is a toy that all dogs who love to fetch will appreciate. For owners that do not feel too eager to entertain their dog, this can be a solution because this toy can be pre-set to automatically launch tennis balls every 7 or 15 seconds. Another option is for owners to manually launch the tennis balls by using a special remote control.

The ball launching system's distance may be adjusted, depending on the size of the yard. This toy measures 15 inches by 13 inches by 17.5 inches and weighs about 9 lbs. It operates on six D batteries, which will allow the toy to run for about five hours. The toy can also operate with an AC adapter (included). For continuous play, dogs can be trained to place the tennis ball in the bucket.

    Remote Controlled Cars

    • A remote controlled car can be an entertaining game for dogs.

While remote controlled cars are known to be toys for children, when used correctly, they can also make great gifts for a dog looking for some entertainment. A good remote controlled car for dogs must be able to go over the tall grass found in most yards and must be of a size appropriate for a dog. Most dogs will have a blast chasing and barking at a remote controlled car, but special precautions must be taken to avoid injuries.

Dogs should not be allowed to chew on the toy, potentially ingesting parts that may get lodged in the throat or intestinal tract. And, of course, the car should never allowed to be slammed against the dog, which may cause serious injury, especially to smaller dogs.

    Remote Controlled Helicopters and Boats

    • Remote controlled helicopters can be fun when used safely.

Some dogs that are particularly agile may enjoy chasing a remote controlled flying helicopter. Of course, safety again is the main issue. The helicopter must be flown away from the dog and at a safe distance to avoid injuries. Dogs will chase, bark, jump and make steep turns in an attempt to catch the helicopter. When playing with dogs, this toy should only be used by adults that can control the toy well. Owners must expect the toy to likely be damaged or even destroyed if caught by the dog.

Dogs that like water may also enjoy chasing a remote controlled boat. Used safely, a remote controlled helicopter or boat can turn out to be a great and fun workout for agile dogs needing lots of exercise.
