Instructions

    • 1

Decide how large and thick you wish to make the chew toy. Use three fleece strips, 3 inches wide by 40 inches long, to make a chew toy for a small dog. Use six fleece strips of the same size to make a chew toy for a large dog. Measure and cut the strips out of brightly colored fleece.

    • 2

Lay the fleece strips together on a flat work surface with the edges even. Tie the strips together at one end, approximately 2 inches from the ends of the fleece strips. Tie the knot securely.

    • 3

Braid the strips together in the standard braid fashion. If you are using six strips, braid with three groups of two strips. Continue braiding tightly until you reach the other end of the fleece strips.

    • 4

Tie another knot with all of the strips at the other end of the braid. Make sure the knot is tight.

    • 5

Trim the fleece strips on the ends of the knots so they are even.

    • 6

Tie an overhand knot in the center of the braid to provide an additional chewing point for your dog.

    • 7

Play a tugging game with this toy and your dog or just allow the dog to chew on it as desired. When the fleece chew toy becomes soiled, wash it in the washing machine and dry it in the dryer.
