Instructions

    • 1

Cut the fleece to a desired width. The width will depend on how durable you would like the braid. A 3-inch piece would suit a puppy or a smaller dog. A 5-inch cut would be best for a medium-size dog, and an 8-inch piece would work best for larger dogs.

    • 2

Stack the three strips of fleece on top of each other. Secure them together 6 inches from one end with a rubber band.

    • 3

Place the rubber-banded end between your knees. You can either kneel on the ground or sit in a chair to perform this step.

    • 4

Braid the three pieces tightly, leaving another 6 inches of unbraided rope at this end.

    • 5

Place a second rubber band on this end to secure the braid.

    • 6

Tie a tight knot on either end of the fleece rope and cut out the rubber band.

    • 7

Trim the edges of each end from 6 inches to 3 inches.

    • 8

Tie another knot in the middle of the braid.
