Things You'll Need
- 1-inch thick rope
- Scissors
- Tape
Instructions
Cut three pieces of rope measuring 30 inches each. Match all the ends together evenly. Tie a large slipknot and then another knot toward one of the ends.
Tape down the knot you just created on a table or hard working surface. This will prevent it from moving around while you are braiding the rope.
Separate the three ropes, and refer to them as 1, 2 and 3 -- from left to right. Put rope 1 over rope 2, and rope 3 over rope 1.
Continue placing the left-outside string over the middle string, and then the right-outside string over the middle string. Stop when you are 2 inches from the end of your ropes.
Tie another double knot at the ends of your ropes. Make sure that the knots are tight. Test with the dog, to see if it likes the tug.
Create more tugs following this pattern, making them shorter or longer according to your preference. This allows you to have tugs in different areas of the house.
