How to Mend Dog Toys

Every dog owner loves to give their faithful pal fun toys to play with; it allows the dog to expend excess energy while being entertained for hours. The problem is that because dogs use their mouths to play, their teeth can eventually wear away the exterior of a stuffed toy. Although the dog may enjoy tearing the toy to shreds, the owner may not! Fortunately, you can fix a plush or stuffed dog toy to be as good as new in as little as several minutes.

Instructions

Remove all the old stuffing from the ripped hole in the toy if the damage is severe; dogs that rip holes in toys will often remove quite a bit of stuffing as well.

    • 2

Insert the new stuffing and replace the old squeaker with a new one.

    • 3

Thread the needle with heavy-duty thread and proceed to sew up the open hole. Tie the thread to the needle, and stick the needle in and out of each side that is being sewn together; proceed along the length of the hole until both sides are completely closed up. The best way to accomplish this is by sewing along the length of the hole every eighth of an inch. Repeat the same process back the other way for improved strength and to prevent the hole from tearing again.

Wash the toy with a mild soap and let it dry once the stitching is complete. When dry, give it to your furry friend for many hours of enjoyment and play.
