Instructions
Select a toy pattern from the many that are available online. The typical dog toy patterns are for stuffed toys; these can include stuffed bone patterns, stuffed stars and stuffed animals. Beyond those available online, patterns are also found in craft or fabric stores.
Fold the wool fabric in half, and place the pattern on top of the fabric. Use sewing pins to hold together the pattern and two layers of fabric. Cut out the design so there are two pieces of fabric. Remove the sewing pins.
Line up the two pieces of fabric. The outside part of the wool should be facing inward, and the inside facing out. Pin the fabric along the edges at about 1/4-to-1/2 inch for seam allowance.
Sew up the most of the fabric along the pinned sides of the fabric. This will form the appropriate pattern shape. Sew about 1/4-to-1/2 inch from the edge of the fabric. Leave a hole about 1-to-2 inches long, rather than closing up the fabric. Pull the fabric through the hole to turn it right side out.
Fill the fabric with any preferred material, such as cotton or poly-fiber stuffing. Use the scraps of extra, boiled-wool fabric if preferred. Cut extra fabric into small scraps to make a better stuffing material.
Fold the edges of the hole on both sides, and pin them together. Thread the needle and tie a firm knot. Start the needle between the two sides of the fabric, so the knot is hidden. Sew the hole shut by hand. Tie off the last stitch in the middle to create an invisible line.
