Why do firestations use dalmatians as a mascot?

Dalmatians are not commonly used as mascots for fire stations. The association between Dalmatians and fire stations is largely due to their historical presence in fire brigades during the 18th and 19th centuries. They were known to accompany firefighters on horse-drawn carriages to provide various benefits such as crowd control and fire prevention. However, the use of Dalmatians in modern fire departments has declined, and they are no longer a common sight.
